Windmill Microlending

£0.00

Windmill Microlending is Canada’s only national charity providing affordable loans to help skilled immigrants and refugees pay for accreditation, training and career development. Founded in 2005, Windmill Microlending has delivered more than 10,000 loans to new Canadians, helping them transform their potential into prosperity.

“Thanks to the generous support of the McKay Family Foundation, Windmill has established a dedicated loan capital fund aimed at helping newcomers to Ontario build brighter futures. During its first year, the fund supported three newcomer clients. We are proud to share an update on the positive outcomes of this meaningful initiative, which has played a vital role in offering essential financial support to individuals who face obstacles on their path to achieving professional goals. More than just a financial resource, this fund represents a deep commitment to strengthening communities by opening doors to opportunity and empowerment.

During its second year, the fund supported seven additional newcomer clients- healthcare professionals in Ontario- thanks to the foundation’s second gift. To date, this internal fund has provided direct support to ten clients, helping them overcome challenges and move forward in their careers.

The McKay Family Foundation’s donation was deployed partly to support Windmill’s Prosperity Fund, which went directly into the hands of Windmill clients, supporting their journey toward economic success, and partly to Windmill’s Propel Fund, which provides tailored career success support to their clients. “
